Where it all started, and now retired. Three litters: two with Maynard (June 2021, and June 2022, which gave us Breagha) and one with Blaze (Shony, April 2024).
Before we breed a dog, specialists check its hips, elbows, eyes and heart, and the results go on OFA's public database. The numbers below are Shony's, mom of our December 2026 litter. Look any of them up.
X-rays read by three OFA radiologists at 24 months or older. Our breeding dogs score Good or Excellent.
X-rays checked for elbow dysplasia and arthritis. Our breeding dogs are Normal.
Exam by a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist, repeated within 12 months before each breeding.
Exam by a board-certified veterinary cardiologist. Shony had the advanced exam: listening, an ECG and an echocardiogram.
Shony is clear on all 11 DNA tests on her OFA record, including DM, ICH-1, NCL, PRA1, PRA2 and prcd-PRA. Angus is clear on ICH-1, NCL, PRA1, PRA2 and prcd-PRA.
Our puppies are whelped in the middle of our home — not out in an outdoor kennel run or commercial facility. From day three to day sixteen, each pup undergoes Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) exercises.
By week four, they are accustomed to vacuum cleaners, kitchen chatter, dropping pans, and visitors. By week seven, they have made their first retrieves on grass, explored varied terrain, and ridden in a car.
